Our commitment to the environment
One of the things that makes each Clark’s Market special is its unique location – perhaps that’s part of the reason why preserving the environment is important to us.
Our delis, salad bars and natural food departments use corn-based, biodegradable “plastic,” or wheat-based, biodegradable paper products. That’s everything from salad and soup containers to cutlery and hot food containers. Our napkins are made from a percentage of recycled post-consumer waste and are biodegradable, as is the wax paper in our delis. In our produce sections you’ll notice that the bags you use to collect everything from apples to zucchinis are also a corn-based, biodegradable product.
Clark’s Market recycles its own waste zealously, shipping all cardboard boxes back to the warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they are recycled.
Naturally, we like to see our customers bringing their own cloth grocery bags to stores to place purchases in, and we sell our own fabric bags for $99 cents each if you need one. But we’re also pleased to announce that one of our newer recyling programs is for plastic grocery sacks – each one of our store locations now has a container where you can drop off the plastic bags you have piling up at home. We’re happy to recycle them for you.
Clark’s Market has made great strides over the years in establishing some earth-friendly practices in our stores, and we’re always looking for new ideas. Talk to your store manager with any suggestions of what else you think we can be doing.
